Indelible impressions in the imagination of the human species is not surprising that the fall of that powerful primitive people, the sudden overflow from their lands on the surface of the ocean, in the midst of frightening tremors of Earth and atmospheric cataclysms, has left. Suppose that, in our time, the entire British Isles, with all its inhabitants and all the treasures of civilization would have the same fate and that they were swallowed by the sea until almost the height of the peak of the highest mountains in Scotland, that terrible shock would suffer the same and English colonies the whole of humanity. We still admit that, as a result of that event, the world was led to fall back into universal barbarism, and that men like Guillermo, the Conqueror, Richard the Lionheart, Alfredo el Grande, Cromwell and Queen Victoria not sobreviviesen in the memory of future generations to not be transformed into gods or demons. In any way, memories of the huge disaster in which would have suddenly disappeared to the motherland, the center of the world, could never disappear from the memory of men. That memory remained, more or less fragmentary form, in all countries of the Earth, first in a form of narration of historical character truthful, then with the passing of time, as legend, as tradition, as fable, as story. The memory of such an event would survive to thousands of transformations of the world, shallower and less terrible; survive the dynasties, the Nations, religions and languages.
The memory of such an event would last until the end of time, in how much you had men on the Earth. The science still badly began his mission of rebuilding the past and build the story of the forgotten ancient peoples civilizations. In this work, no study could be more interesting or more appealing, and none would provide the imagination more horizons, that the history of this missing people, the true story of humanity before the flood.
